Kakki Chattai' is about the obsession of a youth Murali (Kamal Haasan), wanting to join the police force. Dejected by constant rejection, he joins a gang of smugglers. His lover Uma, (Ambica) leaves him as she does not want to marry a smuggler. The story takes many twists and turns and in the end a shocking truth is revealed. What is the truth?
